Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic Oven

The oven is a very important appliance in my house, we use it almost every day of the week.

From baking cakes, cooking pizzas, roasting potatoes and preparing family meals, to put it simply, we can’t live without our oven!

The search for a new oven was very interesting.

Comparing the features from brand to brand, and the price ranges was how I narrowed my selection down.

I choose the Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic Oven (Model HBG73S550A) RRP $2499 to match the Bosch Induction cooktop I had also purchased.

This Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic Oven has some great functions that attracted me to make the purchase.

The top five features that really stood out to me were:

  • A rapid heat function for faster heat up
  • Pyrolytic cleaning
  • Telescopic rail shelves
  • Quadruple glazed cool touch door and;
  • A maximum temperature of 300 °C degrees.

This oven also has an electronic display to set the timer.

It requires a moderate touch to activate the mode you would like, controlled through the + and – symbols, the timer defaults to 10 minutes on first touch, then moves in 1 minute increments either up or down.

This oven also has retractable control knobs; you simply push them to pop out then push again to make them sit flush with the oven face.

My first time baking in my new Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic Oven was an exciting challenge.

I set myself the task of making a flourless chocolate cake.

This cake requires a low heat, so I did not use the rapid heat function, instead choosing the 3D air function to ensure the oven was heated evenly.

Once the mixture had been prepared, I slid out the telescopic rack to place the cake in the oven, then slid the rails back in with ease and shut the cool touch door.

The temperature is easily adjusted with the pop out control knobs, as I needed to adjust the temperature slightly towards the end of cooking my cake as I closely monitored it.

Removing the cake was very easy with the telescopic racks, by sliding the racks out fully you allow the air around the cake to cool, making for an easy pick up without having to dive into the hot oven!

The cake could not have turned out better!

I am very pleased with my purchase of the Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic Oven (HBG73S550A), it is very simple to use and control, looks great and most importantly it has all the features that I was after with a new oven.

Installation was quick and easy, as i made sure the dimensions would simply slid into the existing old oven cavity.

One major difference I have noted is how well this oven does at reducing heat transfer, making me feel much safer about the surrounding appliances and enclosure the oven is sitting in.

I have yet to test out the Pyrolytic cleaning function, as I have not had this oven very long and it recommends using Pyrolytic cleaning every 3 months, but I am very excited to see just how well this new technology works.
