Perhaps 2013 Australian X Factor winner Dami Im’s rendition of the 1980’s Prince anthem “Purple Rain” peaked too soon!
As according to global experts Pantone Color Institute in the United States, 2014 will be the colour of Radiant Orchid, a pinkish purple tone, or to be more exact, Pantone 18 – 3224.
Set to replace 2013’s Emerald Green, Radiant Orchid is described by Pantone as “a captivating and enigmatic purple”.
When decorating with Radiant Orchid, or hues and tones in this family, it’s good to be mindful that this will add warmth and feminine elements to your space.
As such, if you do not want to achieve that in your design – think about introducing the colour in smaller amounts, helping to create a focal point for the interior.
By doing so, this also allows you versatility to make future on trend changes to the room without having to go through a major renovation each year.
