How to Elevate Your Home’s Style

Is your home looking a bit tired and jaded? Could it do with a makeover?

Well, if you have answered yes to both questions then you are in luck. In this post, we will highlight how you can elevate your home’s style with just a few strategic modifications and changes.

It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to do this, though, of course, it can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

But, if you are wanting to transform your space into a more modern, stylish, and inviting environment, here are some easy and impactful ways you can do so.

1. Repaint your walls

One of the easiest and cheapest ways you can elevate your home’s style is to repaint the walls.

It is amazing the difference adding a fresh coat of colour can make to your bedroom, living room or kitchen area. Not only can it breathe new life into your property, but it can also completely transform any room’s ambience to make it a lot more inviting and homely.

Colours like deep blues, earthy greens, or soft pinks can add real personality and depth to your living spaces. Don’t forget to compliment your redecoration with throw pillows, rugs, and curtains that will lift the aesthetic further.

2. Upgrade your flooring

Along with paint, flooring also helps to set the tone for the look and feel of any room. Therefore, if what you currently have laid down is a bit on the dull, tired or uninspiring side, then you should consider upgrading your flooring to something with a bit more va va voom.

One of the most versatile and affordable options to use is vinyl plank flooring which mimics the look of real wood or stone but comes at a fraction of the cost of them.

What makes this type of flooring such an attractive option is that they are easy to install, durable, and water-resistant. This makes them perfect for high-traffic areas like the kitchen or living room.

Vinyl flooring comes in a range of designs, including rustic oak and sleek marble. Both of which can instantly create a bit of a ‘wow’ factor.

3. Bring in more light

The more natural light a home has, the more fresh and vibrant it feels. Therefore, if your living spaces are a bit on the dark and dingy side you should take steps to introduce greater amounts of it into your property.

A great way to achieve this is to install extra windows or replace your current ones with bigger versions. By doing so, you will enable natural light to flood in much more profusely than it previously was, which will do wonders for the look and feel of any living space, and your mental health.

4. Invest in statement lighting

As well as introducing more natural light into your home, you should also invest in statement lighting that will better define each room.

Swapping old and outdated fixtures for eye-catching pieces like elegant pendant lights or chic chandeliers can make a world of difference. Just make sure you use energy-efficient lightbulbs. Otherwise, you might find your utility bills going through the roof.

5. Change your window treatments

When it comes to home makeovers, window treatments can often get overlooked. However, they can play a central role in defining any room’s style.

Replacing insipid curtains with bright, vibrant new ones or swapping out basic blinds for something more funky and modern can make a room appear a lot more inviting, comfortable and warm.

It’s a good idea to opt for neutral tones or soft, sheer fabrics if you want light to filter through into your room.

6. Adopt a less is more approach to design

Often, you don’t need to make wholesale renovation changes to elevate the style of your home. Instead, you just simply should focus on decluttering.

Excessive clutter can make even the most beautiful and elegant of homes feel chaotic. So, by simplifying your décor and sticking to a minimalistic approach, you can go a long way towards creating a sense of calm and openness that was lacking before.

When decluttering, focus on retaining key statement pieces as a focal point around which the rest of the room’s appearance can be designed.

This could take the form of a unique coffee table or a striking piece of art, which you should allow to shine by giving them centre stage.

7. Add Greenery

Another terrific way to enhance the look and feel of your home is to add lots of greenery to it.

Plants not only bring life and colour into your home, but they also purify the air and are linked to reduced levels of stress. Some studies even suggest they can improve your mood, concentration and productivity.

It doesn’t matter if you prefer low-maintenance succulents, tall statement plants like fiddle leaf figs, or a mix of hanging plants; introducing more greenery into your home can make it feel much fresher and more vibrant.
