Trade Fair Season Round Up

From July through to September, Melbourne plays host to designers and buyers from all over Australia and overseas.

With an incredible array of inspiration on offer, industry professionals flocked to our design capital to scour at least one or all of our design, decoration and gift trade fairs.

The team at House of Home attended all of them (while sporting our comfiest footwear). We were so impressed by each of the different shows and what they had to offer, that we just had to share our experience with you.

We have done a quick round up of the key trend themes that were filtering through at the shows and an overview of what we saw and loved the most. Below is a snapshot from the following five trade fairs:

Themes & Styles:

Gypsy Boho - Natural organic looking furniture pieces in rattan, macramé and crocheted rugs and lots of cream and white fabrics.

Coastal Beach Vibe - Beach inspired accoutrements in a cool palette of blues and greens, teamed with basket weaves and wicker furniture.

Refined Elegance - Furniture & Décor oozing sophisticated charm by way of tufted velvet pieces in rich, bold colours with Brass element detailing.

Japanese / Scandi Minimalism - Refined pieces showcasing pale timbers with a clean, minimal aesthetic.


Colour Palettes:

There were an array of various colour trends on display from;

Muted Hues – A calming colour palette of dusty shades ranging corn flower blues, sage greens, terracotta’s and chalky pinks.

Monochromatic with a Twist - Sophisticated vignettes, predominantly black and white highlighted by deep accent colours such as greens or indigo blues.

Rich & Bold - Deep mesmerizing colours such as Burgundy, Forrest Green, Indigo, Ochre and Rose Pink.

Beyond Brights - Borderline Neons in Pinks, Greens, Blues, Yellows.
