Introducing Pantone Colour of The Year 2016...
With the festive season in full swing, Pantone has given us an early Christmas present! This week Pantone graciously announced the colours, (yes colours!) that are going to been seen in every aspect of fashion, paint and home décor in the new year.
Move over Marsala, Pantone Colour of the Year winner for 2015, you’re about to be over shadowed by not just one Pantone colour, but two. Yes two! We can’t believe it either.
For the first time in history, Pantone Colour Institute decided to release two colours. The colours were chosen as a retaliation to the chaos happening in the wider world around us. The essence of the colours are about demonstrating a balance between two opposing forces; the warmer Rose Quartz with the calm of Serenity.
Pantone’s dramatic statement is a symbolic move, hopefully one that will assist in creating a balance in the world.
“Joined together Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace” Leatrice Eiseman | Executive Director, Pantone Colour Institute.
Rose Quartz & Serenity Colour Tones:
Rose Quartz is a passionate and affectionate muted rose tone, perfect for the free spirit, whilst Serenity contains the principle of light and calm airiness. Whether you decide to use on your wall, floors, hard or soft furnishing the use of both of these 2016 colour tones are such to create balance and harmony in your living space.

The Entire Pantone Palette For 2016
This years palette is beautiful to say the least. Just like the two main colours, the entire palette is a balanced and uniform collection of pastel tones with a few bright vivid bursts to keep things interesting. Standouts aside from Rose Quartz and Serenity will definitely be colours such as Nostalgic Rose and Orchid Haze from the purple colour score as well as Arctic Ice Blue, Blooming Dahlia and Cream Gold. Muted and balanced you will easily be able to incorporate this palette into your existing style.
House of Home 2016 Pantone Colour Tips
1) Say goodbye to Copper
It might be time to do away with copper and replace it with a more muted gold tone. Next year's palette is about softening your look and turning away from flashy colours
2) It's time to update your floors with Terrazzo.
This colour palette reminds of us of the subdued 1980's interiors with a darker side. Lustrous marble is on the way out soon to be replaced with gleaming terrazzo tiles and mosaics.
3) 2016 Soft Furnishing
Pillows, cushions, throws and blankets will soon be available in pastel colour tones made from luxurious plump yet soft fabrics. We believe Serenity will be the feature colour in 2016's woolen and woven fabrics. It might be time to update your sofa cushions and throw pillows.
