Welcome to Part 3 of 3 in our series of articles on how to make D.I.Y Macrame Gift Ribbons
Simply Square Knots are super easy to make and offer the freedom to get creative with coloured ribbon.
Rather than buying new ribbon, you can up-cycle bits and pieces from around the house, from old clothes, or hit the local vintage store and see what interesting types of ribbons, charms and beads you can find for that authentic Boho look.
Simply Square Knot
Skill Level: Beginner
What you’ll need:
- Ribbon or rope
- Charms or beads if desired
These are actually some cut offs from pants that one of our lovely team members owned. Utilise scraps to create a one-of-a-kind look!
Measure your present with your rope. Should be enough length so that it can be wrapped over the present plus about 25% more, and then double this.
Fold your rope in half and wrap it around your present. You should have a Loop, place this about a third way up the present.
Open up the loop and feed through the end of rope, fold back over. Tip: It’s similar to making a larks head.
When you’re looking at your length of rope, you should now have 4 strands of rope; 2 outer strands and 2 middle strands. Start your square knots. You can learn how to do them from Present 2: Step 4 to Step 9. Continue until you are happy with the pattern or out of rope!
