Ashley and Hayden have lived in their brick veneer home in the North East of Victoria for the past three years and have certainly made their mark on it during that time. Whilst most of the updating and major renovating was completed by the previous owners, Ashley and Hayden have transformed this modest 1970’s style brick home into a touch of eclectic Hamptons glamour.
As soon as you enter, the warmth and intimacy in Ashley and Hayden's home is evident with large inviting sofas in the living room and personal touches on each wall. Ashley has always had a love of decorating, styling and interiors and her collection of inspiring home magazines and books has no doubt helped her achieve a classic yet modern look.
“I would say my style is provincial without being too serious” Ashley | Home Owner
And it's true, fresh pops of pastel colours and fun quirky groupings of books, objects and everyday items displayed in considered vignettes really make the home feel fun and relaxing.
“I also get loads of inspiration from social media like instagram, and my friends are right into interiors as well,” Ashley adds.
Since owning this home Ashely and Hayden have installed a new fireplace and built a pergola out the back yard.
“We were so fortunate that the previous owners really did do most of the work. The colour scheme on the walls, in the kitchen and the bathroom were a perfect neutral palette for us to come and add our own style too,” Ashely explains.
“It’s funny but when we were house hunting people explained to us that we would just “know” when we found the right house and I didn’t believe them but, as soon as I walked into this house, I just knew...so they were right!” Ashley | Home Owner.
The home has three bedrooms and the master bedroom is one of Ashely’s favourite rooms. Lilly the ginger cat also thinks it's a wonderful place to hang out in the morning sun! Ashley has a love of colourful bed linen and also collecting inspiring pieces of art to display around the home. The free standing mirror, leaning up against the wall, makes the bedroom appear larger and is the perfect statement piece.
The other two bedrooms are guest rooms with more pops of bright colours on the linen and soft furnishing. Walls and mantles are adorned with family pictures and sentimental items.
The kitchen is fresh and functional. Again, crisp bunches of flowers and lovely everyday items are thoughtfully arranged on display.
The open plan kitchen and dining room is a great use of space and the dining table is Ashley’s favourite furniture piece in the home.
“We dream of owning a farm one day, and so I’m probably inspired to buy furniture for that dream that I hope one day becomes a reality.” Ashley | Home Owner
The kitchen window overlooks the back yard which is full of lush potted plants on the patio and hanging baskets with vibrant coloured flowering plants.
A fireplace made-by Ashley’s father from old mining equipment and transported from their previous home using a crane, looks perfectly at home on a paved area.
When asked about her style advice for others Ashley said “It’s important to look everywhere for inspiration, not just high end products, but find things you love, and even use items for different purposes and you’ll create your own unique look. Decorating doesn’t have to cost a fortune.”
So, do they have any other plans for their lovely home? Ashley and Hayden have decided to make an arbour for the front garden and would like to add some lighting to their new pergola.
