Our Local Coffee Fix
We’re constantly on the look-out for new and exciting places to get our daily coffee fix! What really excites us is when we find a place that serves great coffee in a beautifully designed shop.
Foxtrot Café does just that. Located in the heart of South Melbourne, Foxtrot opened up a little over a year ago with a simple philosophy: serve customers wholesome, nourishing food made with plenty of love.
Owner, Betty, can always be seen there buzzing around the kitchen and chatting to customers. To one gentleman, she says “You’re going to absolutely die when you hear what I’ve got in the oven at the moment”. Betty promises to give him a call when this mystery dish is ready to eat and he leaves with a smile on his face. This is the kind of personalized service that Betty delivers day in and day out to customers in the South Melbourne area.
We’re lucky enough to be based just around the corner from Betty and the amazing staff at Foxtrot Café. If South Melbourne is a bit of a hike for you to get to, make the trip especially – we promise you won’t be disappointed!

Passionfruit Melting Moments
- 250g butter, chopped
- 1/2 cup pure icing sugar
- 1 1/2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup custard powder
- 60g butter
- 1 tablespoon passionfruit pulp
- 1/2 cup pure icing sugar (extra)
Preheat oven to 160C (140C fan-forced).
Step 1: Line two baking trays with baking paper. Use electric beater to beat butter until soft - add icing sugar and beat until combined.
Step 2: Mix in flour and custard powder, then gather the dough into a ball (don't over-handle or the biscuits will be tough). Roll teaspoons of mixture into balls and place onto the prepared trays. Use a fork to flatten, first one way then at right angles to make a crisscross pattern.
Step 3: Bake for 15 mins until lightly browned underneath. Cool completely on wire racks.
Step 4: Filling: Use electric beaters to beat together butter, icing sugar and passionfruit pulp. Spread filling onto one biscuit and sandwich with another. Repeat to make about 30 filled biscuits.
Step 5: Eat and enjoy!
