Imagine your first home. If you could write a wish list of what would make it perfect, I’m imagining for lots of us it would go a little like this:
• Room for everyone and room to grow
• A floor plan that works for a growing family
• Spaces that flow
• and at a price that fits your budget.
Ticking all of these boxes is often not easy, however in the first home buyer market we had a look at the Lloyd 29 home from the Australian Building Company, and it’s a pretty strong contender.
With a long history around the building industry in Melbourne, the Australian Building Company worked out that the there are some key things that people are looking for in their first home. And as you’d expect, the starting point is understanding people first.
What the Australian Building Company saw was that the first home buyer they were talking to was either a young couple planning for kids, or perhaps already with their first child and planning on having more children; and often needing to accommodate parents and other relatives for extended periods of time.
If you think about those families, there are some fairly key requirements:
• The layout of the house needs to work – it needs to be a functional space
• Having separate living areas is important, but so is having a large communal space where people can gather
• Its also to pay attention to zoning so that noise is contained
The Lloyd design that the Australian Building Company came up with really responds to these requirements. The designers have thought through what a young family needs in a home as it grows. The floor plan features, a well thought through entertaining zone where the kitchen, living and dining spaces are inter-connected and flow out onto an outdoor room.
Then there are two very distinct sleeping zones. At the front of the house there is a master suite with ensuite and walk in robe, as well as another living space. Think of it as a parent’s zone. This is the perfect spot at the end of the day to retreat to and unwind, without disturbing sleeping children.
At the other end of the house is a great kids zone – three bedrooms, their own bathroom, with the added bonus of an open leisure space, perfect for spreading out toys and games, or watching TV away from the main living spaces.
The layout of the floorplan has been well thought through so that there is lots of flexibility in how a family can live and enjoy this space.
And of course there’s your stand alone laundry, and generous double garage. For a first home the Lloyd is a really great option.
The Australian Building Company have challenged their design team to come up with colour palettes that will work for everyone, so you have a choice of 7 internal pallettes and 6 external. Presented as a transition from light to dark, these palettes bring together the wall floor and cupboard finishes so that your new home will look great too. If you’re someone who needs help visualizing what things will actually look like, they’ve even got this great virtual technology tool to let you feel like your standing in your new home.
So, if a flexible and functional floor plan, room for a growing family, and keeping to a budget are important to you, check out the Lloyd 29 from the Australian Building Company for your first home.
