How did you get into the business?
Bathrooms are my life. My family owned a bathroom and plumbing supplies business growing up and I started working there when I was a teenager.
What can we expect when we come in store?
We have two stores in Melbourne based in Bentleigh and Hallam but our main trade is online. We have experienced bathroom sales staff in both branches with decades of experience between them so if you can’t see anything that you like on the website or instore we are able to source most products, or to find something that will work perfectly.
Tell us about your favourite products at the moment?
The black tapware and accessories are really popular right now. I like the idea of combining a Caroma Epic Bloc Basin Mixer in Black/ Rose Gold with rectangular black shower/bath mixers and accessories.
Items we can’t keep up with the demand for include the Baltic Stone Vessel Basins, the Moda Matte Black Accessories and the Caroma Urbane Sanitaryware Range.
What makes your store special?
We sell quality products at amazingly low prices. We also have friendly, experienced staff who are able to assist with our clien’ts bathroom selections.
What’s your favourite question from a customer?
I had a question from a customer the other day that made me laugh. We had just finished discussing and selecting his bathroom products and he had mentioned that he was amazed at the wide range, the great customer service and the low prices.
When it came time to pay he asked “Do you accept American Express?” and, when I said that we did he asked “Is there a surcharge?” I replied that no, we didn’t pass the charge onto customers to which he said “Who are you guys” ?!
I loved that question not only because it was funny but it was a huge compliment that he found us surprising – in a good way! That’s definitely something we aim for.
What is your favourite part of the workday?
I honestly love every minute of the workday. There is just so much variety that you never get bored. My ideal day would include some quiet time to be able to review the product range, the website, stock, marketing and basic strategic tasks but it has been so busy of late that these days are few and far between. Not that I am complaining! I’d rather be busy than quiet any day.
What inspires you?
I love seeing new product releases. For a long time the Australian market was SO conservative and quite highly regulated so the amazing products that were released in Europe would never make it to Australian shores. It was too expensive to make low volume products to meet the Australian market but finally we are beginning to see new and exciting products. I am loving rose gold and black tapware at the moment.
Are you regularly updating your own home with products from the store?
Since our products are mostly fixtures that are installed we are not regularly updating and changing them but we are planning a renovation later this year and I’m excited about the product selection. I am particularly looking forward to the Stone Freestanding Bath and Dorf Epic Bloc Mixer Taps, plus the Astra Matte Black Kitchen Sink Mixer.
