Held in the West Kensington Design District, 100% Design is the U.K.’s largest and longest running commercial design show for trade industry professionals.
As the outstanding meeting place for business and design, 100% Design features an unrivaled talks programme, bespoke installations and showcase of carefully curated world-leading brands.The theme for this year’s show ‘Experience’ played on an impact of design thinking, development and exploring how people respond to products, spaces and materials.
This year also marked the inaugural edition of their neighbouring showcase – Luxury made with a focus on luxury, contemporary interiors. Luxury made is focused on a select range of exhibitors, from established king-pins of the furniture interiors industry, through to emerging designers who are using materials and techniques that result in outstanding products.
With an exhibitor list second-to-none, we have hand-picked 6 stand-out companies from 100% Design and 4 from Luxury Made to share with you. Here’s a quick round up of some of the stunning products that caught our eye.
ANNE KYYRO QUINN
London based designer Anne Kyyro Quinn’s tailor-made, hand-made wall installations have a strong visual presence that perform a vital acoustic function, providing effective noise-absorption and smoothing sound levels for spaces.
Their 3-Dimensional form look more like artworks or sculptures than the felt fabrics they are made from and have a beautiful tactile feel.
DUQUESA & MALDAVA
Duquesa and Maldava create design to die for! Their collection is seductive, subtle and mysterious. This is luxury at its finest. Hand made in Portugal their collection includes furniture, upholstery and lighting.
Their pieces reflect an urban and intense lifestyle in perfect harmony with cosmopolitan elements, trends, luxury, with a special focus on the personal style and identity.
EBB & FLOW
Using classic British and Nordic style, Danish company Ebb and Flow combine glass, metal and textiles to create exceptionally beautiful light fittings that combine a sense of simplicity with a modern edge and depth of colour.
GLEN DIMPLEX GROUP
Appearing for the very first time at 100% Design, Glen Dimplex released the Opti-myst® Fire Place which the world’s most realistic looking flame effect electric fire. Using state-of-the-art technology, Glen Dimplex have created Opti-myst, a stunningly effective patented 3D flame and smoke effect - something never seen before in an electric fire. It’s the perfect solution for those wanting to get cosy during the warmer months!
MAMBO UNLIMITED IDEAS
Mambo Unlimited Ideas is a dynamic design force that create soulful, identity-filled, eclectic pieces for those looking for a point of difference. It is a design brand which combines Portuguese tradition with a modern vibe.
Turnstyle Designs are established as one of the world's foremost producers of design led architectural hardware. Made in England they have a comprehensive range in a multitude of styles and materials. They specialise in hand-stitched leatherwork and composite casting, but our favourites have to be their bronze, brass and shagreen clad door bars, levers and pulls.
A brand new sister show case to compliment 100% Design, Luxury Made represents the 'luxury' interiors sector which has become increasingly innovative. This show embraces contemporary design trends, expanding the focus on craft and materials to create a new movement that extends beyond its more traditional roots.
Designed by London based interiors studio Maddux Creative, Luxury Made offered an atmosphere reminiscent of a glamorous boutique rather than the archetypal bustle of a regular trade show. It created the perfect place for respite and a well deserved glass of bubbles after a very busy day of product sourcing!
Created in Oporto in 2014, Duistt is a furniture brand specialising in upholstery. Their products are designed and made in Portugal by skilled craftsmen to produce refined, sophisticated, high-end pieces that exude glamour and refinement.
EMMA J SHIPLEY
Emma J Shipley is a luxury lifestyle brand known for graphic artistry and imagination. The designs are all hand drawn by Emma and transferred onto printed and woven fabrics to create cushions and throws. They are just perfect for a kids bedroom or play area or anyone who loves a touch of the whimsical.
Established in 2009, Hamilton Conte Paris is a furniture and home accessories brand that is known for their diverse cultural backgrounds and their signature style which merges design movements from the 1950’s and 1970’s, the America’s and Scandinavia with a touch of Parisian flair.
MARC DE BERNY
Marc & Munira Bonnet de Berny are both entrepreneurs, passionate by Decorative Arts and Design, with both a long experience in craftsmanship, furniture production, designing and antiques. They joined forces in 2012 when they launched together Marc de Berny to celebrate the De Berny name, once a renowned furniture house at Château de Berny.
With projects ranging from bespoke pieces for private residences to palaces, they create sophisticated and star pieces for interiors and hotels around the world. Their collections are made by talented artisans using techniques going back centuries as well as new processes to give their pieces contemporary styling.
