You’ve all got great products instore, products that should really sell well online. But having great products isn’t the only thing you need to do to sell online.
Here’s a checklist of easy things you can do to set your products up for sales success online.
Make the Brand Clear
If you are selling a product from a brand that people ask for, then make sure you classify that product by that brand. This makes it easy for people to find your product when they are looking for that brand. Some retailers choose to put their whole range up under their store name rather than a product name, there are two good reasons why you might not want to do this - firstly it confuses customers, as they want to buy an item from a particular brand; and secondly your ad won't appear under a brand search.
Make your ad title relevant
This is really important – make sure your ad title includes the key information about your product to make it easier for people to find the product they want.
A Really Good Description
This is really crucial. Your ad needs to provide all the information a customer needs to confidently order your product. This sounds straightforward, but here are some common errors people make:
• Not including dimensions
• Including photos showing multiple colours, but not stating clearly what colour you’ll receive if you order.
• Talking about multiple options that a product comes in, might be colour, finish, or size, but not stating clearly what product you are receiving if you order from this ad.
• Talking about a warranty but not stating clearly what the warranty is.
Images – Having great images is critical to selling online.
They need to show the product clearly, preferably on a white background. Its great to also have some insitu images (images that show your product being used), but these should be in addition to the stand alone product images on a white background.
You can upload PDFs of instruction manuals and other marketing materials, if you think that will help the customer to make their decision.
It’s obvious – if you want to sell online then you need to show the right price for the item you are advertising. If your prices and stock level change, then you should look at automating a feed with House of Home so that your prices and stock levels are up to date.
Get some Reviews
One of the best ways to give a customer confidence to buy from you online is to share reviews of your service. Customers can review your products and services on House of Home. If you don't have any reviews yet, its worthwhile asking some of your best customers to write them for you.
