The Chair by Gubi is the first furniture design to be based on the innovative technique of moulding three-dimensional veneer. The Gubi Chair was designed by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design: "The 3-D design gives the chair a comfortable seat and sense of lightness. Ground-breaking technology allows the thickness of the veneer to be reduced to half that normally used."
The Contemporary interior design of Gubi Chair is simple, clean and offers an uncluttered look. The furniture that best suits this style features clean-cut lines and striking colours or the innovative use of materials. Individual, unique pieces of furniture are the key to contemporary style.

GamFratesi's design takes its creative drive from a fusion of tradition and renewal and in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques. With their dual traditional background, Stine Gam (born 1975) and Enrico Fratesi (born 1978) draw on the classic Danish furniture and craft tradition as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and addressing it actively in the workshop makes it possible to expand on it. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom.
"Our work is balancing between the traditional and surprising. Often it takes just a small detail to achieve or break an expression, and we are very curious about that. We work strictly with the Scandinavian approach to crafts, simplicity and functionalism, but there always happens to be a strong emotion to concept and story behind each work. Contrasts are often the center of our inspiration. Both in work and daily life we are constantly confronted with contrasts, and we do work a lot with references and respect to traditions in both our cultures. We both have roots in strong design cultures. Studying, researching and moving constantly between our two countries, it has become such a natural part of us, that it will also show in our work."
GamFratesi aim to create furniture that illustrates the process and the techniques that created it, and which reflect a persistent exploration of the diverse border zone between harmony and disharmony.
Gubi was founded in 1967 by Jacob and Sebastian's parents, Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen. They initially focused on producing Olsen's furniture designs and selling textiles to the retail sector. Eager to make their own mark, the sons opened a concept store and introduced fashion into the equation. In fact, they were amongst the first to import Prada and Helmut Lang to Denmark, returning their focus back to the family business in 2001.Since then, they have transposed the original creative vision into a contemporary context, putting Gubi on the map as a global player on the design scene. In an ever-changing international landscape, it takes an enormous amount of drive and determination to keep chasing icons. It's that type of endless energy, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit which has catapulted Gubi into an iconic status all its own.
